PreCanSkate is Skate Canada's learn to skate program for beginners. This program is for skaters 3-7 years old who have had no prior skating experience or are unable to stand up and skate forwards and backwards on their own. The class is taught by professional coaches in a group of 12 skaters or less. The first couple weeks, skaters will start the class in the dressing room where they will learn to stand up and walk in their skates off the ice first. They will also learn and practice many of the other skills that they are expected to do on the ice. As the weeks progress, skaters will eventually go directly on the ice at the start time. On the ice, skaters will learn and practice basic skating skills such as getting up on their own, skating forwards and backwards and jumping.
- Skates - hockey or figure skates (highly recommended to have lace up ones)
- CSA Approved Helmet is mandatory
